What is Dryzone Damp-Proofing Cream?
Dryzone Damp-Proofing Cream is the original high performance injection cream, for the purpose of treating rising damp. It is the most rigorously tested and accredited remedial damp proofing treatment available on the market.
Why Dryzone is Required
Rising damp is the phenomenon where groundwater rises up through a wall via capillary action. Capillary action is the ability of a liquid to flow along narrow spaces, counter to the forces of gravity. Bricks and mortar can be very porous and contain many fine capillaries, through which water can rise. The groundwater that rises up through the wall often contains salts that can contaminate plaster and cause lasting decorative spoilage.
Most modern properties are built with a damp-proof course. Some properties, however, were built with no damp proof course, or the original DPC has failed, meaning that rising damp occurs and it is necessary to make remedial repairs. Older pressure injection techniques for treating rising damp are time consuming, complicated and expensive. Dryzone Damp-Proofing Cream is the fast, clean and effective method of rising damp treatment.
What Dryzone Does
Dryzone Damp-Proofing Cream is a water-based silicone cream that spreads through, and bonds with, sand;cement mortar. Any continuous sand;cement mortar line that has been properly treated with Dryzone becomes a damp-proof course. Due to the fact that it is a high strength cream, Dryzone delivers over 5 times more active ingredient to a wall, over a wider area, than other low strength competitors, making it longer lasting and more effective.
How Dryzone is Applied
Holes are drilled in a wall, using a 12mm drill bit, along the first continuous mortar course that is at least 150mm above ground level. On a standard brick wall, these holes are drilled 90% into the width the wall at 120mm intervals.
The Dryzone cream is introduced into the pre-drilled holes. This is usually done using the proprietary Dryzone Applicator Gun. If, however, Dryzone 310ml cartridges are being used, then any good quality mastic gun will be sufficient. Once the cream has been successfully applied, the user is free to move on to the next stage of the treatment.
